Mable Mable (on the table) composed by Ralph Farris for two violins
The composer writes: "Each fiddle is reading from the same page of sheet music, except one of 'em is reading upside-down! Inspired by ETHEL's choreographic sutdies with Annie-B Parson, we we worked together to create "Wait for Green," an arts World Financial Center commission. This piece was premiered on December 19, 2008 by Cornelius Dufallo and Mary Rowell, and it was wildly confusing to write. I mean WILDLY confusing."

Sky Mirror by Derrik Jordan (United States Premiere) for shakuhachi, electric guitar and string quartet

    James Schlefer, shakuhachi
    Eliot Bailen, electric guitar
    Gabriel Schaff, violin
    Joel Lambdin, violin
    Danielle Farina, viola
    Jesse Reagen, cello
    Erik Ochsner, conductor

Sky Mirror composed by Derrik Jordan for string quartet, shakuhachi and electric guitar
The composer writes: "This will be the US premiere of this piece. It was just recently performed in Melbourne, Australia in December 2008 as part of the prize package for the composition competition where it won the Shakuhachi Chamber Music International Prize 2008. The purpose of the competition is to create works that bring the shakuhachi into the chamber music world and to create more repertoire for the shakuhachi in the chamber music setting. My interest in writing this piece was to combine diverse musical elements into a musical fusion and create a new hybrid style."
